Braces in Fresno CA

A bright smile can indicate better social skills, greater overall happiness, and even a longer lifespan! Unfortunately, misaligned teeth and jaw issues could cause us to become self-conscious and stifle our beaming smiles; that’s where Unique Orthodontics comes in.

At Unique Orthodontics in Fresno, Clovis, Madera, Hanford, Visalia, and Tulare, we specialize in traditional braces, including those with ceramic clear brackets and metal brackets. We have treated countless patients who come in feeling self-conscious and leave our office with confidence, comfort, and excitement, and that’s what we’re all about.

How Our Traditional Braces Improve Your Smile

Our friendly and knowledgeable orthodontists and Dr. Bayrakdarian have received extensive training and education to place, fit, maintain, and remove braces throughout your orthodontic treatment.

First, you’ll consult with a professional orthodontist who will examine your teeth, jaws, and facial structure. This consult may include X-rays and impressions of your teeth to assess your orthodontic needs.

Next, we’ll develop a unique treatment plan tailored to your specific dental issues and goals. You’ll be able to learn about all of the options – including ceramic clear brackets and metal brackets – and have all of your questions answered.

As your braces are placed, they will apply consistent minimal pressure to your teeth, gradually moving them into the right position (which may cause slight discomfort). You’ll then have regular appointments for adjustments as you go along, ensuring your braces and oral hygiene align with the progression of your treatment plan.

Once your teeth have reached their perfect positions, an orthodontist will painlessly remove your braces at your final appointment. Before you know it, you’ll have a new smile to showcase to the world!

Types of Braces

Different braces suit different people, so Unique Orthodontics is well-versed in the different options and treatment plans currently on the market. During your consultation, a trained orthodontist will provide all of the information you need to choose the style of braces that’s right for you.

All braces consist of several key components that work together to straighten your teeth. These generally include brackets and archwires, among others. Brackets are small, square or rectangular-shaped attachments that are bonded to the surface of each tooth and hold the archwire across your teeth. Standard brackets can be made of ceramic or metal.

Metal Brackets

When you think of the standard set of braces, you likely picture metal brackets. Each bracket holds a ligature (small elastic band or also known as “ties”) that helps hold the archwire in place. If you select to have metal brackets, you’ll be able to choose between clear or colored ties and change these during your adjustments.

Pros

• More durable than ceramic brackets or Invisalign
• More economical
• Efficient timeframe
• Precise treatment plan

Cons

• Tightening during adjustments may be uncomfortable
• More visible than ceramic clear braces

Ceramic Clear Brackets

Braces are a huge step towards greater self-confidence in your smile, but they aren’t always easy to get used to in the mirror. Luckily, we can also fit you for ceramic clear brackets. These are clear or tooth-colored, making them less noticeable than metal braces.

Pros

• More discreet than metal braces
• More productive than clear aligners (Invisalign): Ceramic clear brackets typically take from 18 to 36 months to straighten out a smile, whereas Invisalign could take much longer and doesn’t work for severe cases of misalignment or a crooked bite.
• Ceramic Brackets are specially treated to become stain-resistant.

Cons

• More expensive than metal braces
• Are larger than metal brackets and, therefore, potentially more difficult to clean
• Slightly more fragile than metal brackets
