For many decades, metal braces were the only treatment option for those who wanted to straighten their teeth. Those devices have helped countless patients improve their smiles, but they aren’t right for everyone. In addition to being noticeable, they also require quite a bit of maintenance and upkeep. If you would like to straighten your teeth without those hassles, then you might be the perfect candidate for Invisalign®.

AN OVERVIEW OF INVISALIGN® ALIGNERS

The Invisalign® system requires nothing more than a set of plastic trays that a patient keeps in their mouth for around 22 hours a day. Those trays act like traditional metal braces, but they are very inconspicuous once they are in the patient’s mouth. The custom trays are designed to gently push and pull the teeth back into the correct alignment. Over the course of the treatment, the patient’s smile will transform before their eyes as their misalignment issues disappear.

In order to make Invisalign® aligners, we must first inspect the patient’s mouth and check their medical history. These devices are safe and effective, but patients who have severe oral health problems might need to address those issues before realigning their smile. Once we have confirmed that their teeth and gums are relatively healthy, we can take 3D images of the mouth and make impressions of the teeth. That information can then be used to make the custom aligners for each individual patient.

BENEFITS OF INVISALIGN®

One of the biggest benefits of this treatment system is the fact that you can take your aligners out at any time. If you would like to treat yourself to a piece of candy or brush your teeth, then you can simply remove your aligners for a few minutes. These devices are FDA-approved and contain no BPA, BPS, gluten, or latex. Best of all, they are discreet.

CREATING YOUR NEW SMILE

The total length of your treatment depends on a few different variables, including the severity of the misalignment and how diligent you are about keeping the aligners in your mouth.
